Local restaurants get a chance to persuade those drivers passing by to stop and try a meal. It is Local Restaurant Week, with 199 locally owned restaurants offering special items and special prices to get people in the door and in the seats.

While Western New York Local Restaurant Week has been organized to promote the region's independent eateries, it may also serve up a boost to area agriculture, according to event coordinator Christa Hobart. "The local, organic farm-to-table movement is very strong."

Monday marks the start of Western New York’s spring-time Local Restaurant Week, and this season’s theme is ‘Think Social. Eat Local.’
