Teen hit on Maple Road in Amherst dies

One of two teenagers hit by an SUV while trying to cross Maple Road in Amherst earlier this month has died. 

13-year-old Erin Suszynski died at Women and Children's Hospital Wednesday morning where she was being treated for her injuries. 

Susznyski and 13-year-old Brianna Francois were both struck when they attempted to cross on the evening of June 9. 

An investigating into the accident continues. The driver of the SUV has not been charged. 

Francois was released from ECMC Saturday.

A portion of Maple Road in Amherst was closed Saturday evening after a pair of female teenagers were struck by a vehicle.

Two fourteen year old students from the Mill Middle School were attempting to cross Maple near Culpepper Road at around 7:30 when they were struck by a Jeep. The names of the injured have not been released and both are listed in critical condition.

The driver of the vehicle has not been charged.
