July 1 marks one year of New York State’s first-in-the-country mandate that schools incorporate mental health into K-12 health education. Officials and educators told WBFO the new law has created an environment in which schools and teachers can experiment, and that one Western New York school district has emerged as a standout.


Dealing with mental illness at a young age comes with many challenges. One of them can sometimes be getting parents on board to help receive treatment. That was one of several topics of discussion on WNED—WBFO’s Facebook live event Thursday night titled ‘Living with Mental Illness at 22’.

A documentary will premier in Buffalo Tuesday called CRAZYWISE.  WBFO's senior reporter Eileen Buckley the Mental Health Advocates of Western New York will host the screening at the North Park Theater followed by a panel discussion.
