Sabres fans were on "Babwatch" Wednesday, awaiting word on whether celebrated Red Wings coach Mike Babcock would be coming to Buffalo to coach the blue and gold. Ultimately it wasn't meant to be, as Babcock instead took a job north of the border with Buffalo's biggest rival, the Toronto Maple Leafs.

The Toronto Maple Leafs have hired Mike Babcock as their new head coach. Babcock chose Toronto over the Buffalo Sabres, among other teams.

Sabres fans are hoping Stanley Cup-winning coach Mike Babcock will choose Buffalo for his next coaching gig. A reporter familiar with Babcock's time in Detroit weighed in on Wednesday's Morning Edition on WBFO.
