Buffalo Police have announced an arrest in the murder of a 13-year-old girl. The body of Lanasha Rollerson was found in the 100 block of Newburgh Avenue Tuesday night. Darshawn Morris, 21, of Hagen Street was arrested at 11 p.m. Wednesday.

A Niagara Falls teenager has been sentenced to 22 years-to-life in prison for killing a 5-year-old girl he was babysitting.

Dontre Jones, 19, has been given 25 years in prison, the maximum sentence allowed, for the 2011 shooting death of Ira Watkins, Jr. in Cheektowaga Town Park.

A 14-year-old boy from Buffalo pleaded innocent Monday afternoon to an indictment charging he shot and killed a 16-year-old boy during a mass scuffle earlier this month on Northland Avenue.

Buffalo Police are seeking the public's help in solving a murder case.

Investigators report that a male, believed to be in his late 20's, was found dead from gunshot wounds in an apartment on the 200 block of Person Street Friday night. Police believe that one or more assailants shot the victim inside the residence.

Anyone with information is being asked to call the confidential tip line at 847-2255.

Niagara Falls, Ontario police have determined that a woman whose body was found at the base of the Falls is a murder victim.

The cause of death has not been determined, and authorities are requesting help in identifying the body. The individual's age appears to be between 20 and 40. She possesses a pierced navel and a cesarean scar.

Police are reviewing missing persons files in hopes of a connection.

Man sentenced for killing teenage sister-in-law

An Orleans County judge today handed down a sentence of 25 years-to-life in prison to a man who admitted to killing his teenage sister-in-law. 

Carlos Cardenas, 22, pleaded guilty to second-degree murder earlier this summer in the January 15, 2011 strangulation death of 15-year-old Katherine Sanchez.  The plea came shortly before he was due to stand trial on rape and murder charges.

Mark David Chapman, the man convicted of killing ex-Beatle John Lennon, will be interviewed by the parole board this week.

Chapman has unsuccessfully faced the board on six previous occasions. He pleaded guilty to second degree murder after the 1980 shooting and was sentenced to 20 years to life the next year. Chapman is currently housed in the Wende Correctional facility, a maximum security prison.

His last parole hearing was in 2010.

A Kenmore native, serving time for multiple murders, has refused to accept parole.

As a teenager in 1985, John Justice killed his parents, his brother and a neighbor. He has been serving prison time on a pair of murder counts, but was relieved of two other counts for reasons of insanity. This is the second time Justice has refused parole.

John Nuchereno, his former attorney believes Justice is looking to serve out his term and to be released in 2015 without facing the restrictions of parole.

Authorities in Columbia, South Carolina are reporting that a former Buffalo resident was recently killed in that city.

The boyfriend of 44-year-old Johnette Pratt has been charged with murder in connection with her death. Pratt's body was found in a burning vehicle after 48-year-old Darrell Lyrell Griffin reported to authorities that the pair had been kidnapped. Sheriff's deputies investigated the claim, found it to be false, and arrested Griffin on the murder charge.

Pratt is a graduate of Kensington High School and left the area six years ago.

Man accused of murdering his half-brother

A resident of the Cattaraugus Indian Reservation is accused of murdering his half-brother. 

Erie County Sheriff's detectives arrested 22-year-old Cody Testerman of Brant Reservation Road on Tuesday morning.  He is being charged with second-degree murder in North Collins court this afternoon in the death of 20-year-old Jessie Seneca. 

Seneca's body was discovered by a nearby resident Saturday afternoon on a dirt road off Route 438.  He was last seen alive last Wednesday morning, July 11.
