Two University at Buffalo students are spending their winter break volunteering at a remote school in Nepal—and it’s not just a service trip. For Pemba Sherpa and Hemanta Adhikari, it’s a homecoming 10 years in the making.

The people of Nepal are still recovering from the April earthquake which claimed thousands of lives and left hundreds of thousands homeless. Other harsh realities were unearthed. "There were a lot of bad construction practices," said UB's Andreas Stavridis, who toured Nepal in June.

As Nepal continues to be dug out from the aftermath of an earthquake, some of its natives are gathering in Buffalo to help combat the devastation.
