Construction has begun on a new pedestrian entry into Niagara Falls State Park. Officials said it will improve the visitor experience at the park and to downtown Niagara Falls.

The vast sanitary sewer network run by Erie County continues to spend a lot of money to make sure it takes in as little water as possible in water from cracked pipes, gutter downspouts, sump pumps or even leaking manhole covers. Extra water coming in can mean the pipe overflows and dumps contaminated water into area waterways.

The Niagara Falls Festival of Lights is a cherished memory to many who grew up in the Cataract City or near it. Those days are gone but tourism leaders are, for the second year, preparing a series of activities they say will provide a more interactive experience while showing visitors - especially those who may be returning for the first time in a while - how much has changed there.

For Mark Mistretta, Thursday is his first official day on his new job as Western District Director of New York State Parks. Mistretta takes the place of Mark Thomas, who has retired from the position he held since 2007.

The final phase of a $70 million reconstruction at Niagara Falls State Park is underway, state officials announced Thursday. They also announced the new name for the Robert Moses Parkway, which is undergoing redevelopment to correct what Governor Andrew Cuomo says was "a mistake."

Saturday's beautiful weather was favorable to Western New Yorkers as they celebrated "I Love My Park Day".

A $900 million project to revitalize New York's state parks, including Niagara Falls and Letchworth, is in full swing with the projects expected to be completed by 2020.

Buffalo Harbor State Park has become one of the city’s newest waterfront hotspots, with a playground, and soon-to-come fishing pier. On Saturday night, the park adds to its list of assets, becoming the city’s newest movie venue.
