Man faces charges after gun goes off

A City of Tonawanda man faces multiple felony charges after a gun went off in a residence on Sunday morning.

Police say at least five pedestrians have been killed by motorists in the last several years along the busy stretch of Niagara Falls Boulevard where a 67-year-old man was killed Thursday. Officials are now reaching out to New York State for help.

A portion of Niagara Falls Boulevard in the Town of Tonawanda was closed for several hours Friday as authorities sorted through the details of a pair of overnight crashes.

An Evans Bank in the Town of Tonawanda was the scene of an armed robbery on Saturday morning.

Police report that two men entered the Niagara Falls Boulevard branch before noon, escaping with an undetermined amount of cash. Police are asking for help in locating the culprits. Both are white males of average height and weight with darker complexions. They exhibited an accent that suggests Middle Eastern ethnicity.

A motorist is facing multiple charges after striking and injuring a bicyclist on Saturday evening.

Thirty year old Christopher Nachreiner fled the scene after striking and injuring an unidentified person who was riding a bicycle along Niagara falls Boulevard in Wheatfield. The bicyclist is being treated for an arm injury at ECMC.

Nachreiner faces charges of driving while intoxicated and leaving the scene of an accident.
