A ceremonial ribbon cutting was held Tuesday morning, marking the completion of a $6.2 million reconfiguration of Niagara Falls State Park's welcome plaza. The project's goals, in addition to improving mobility for pedestrians and access for vehicles, was to make the park and the City of Niagara Falls more mutually visible.

The organizers of Niagara Falls, Ontario's Winter Festival of Lights are hoping the weather will be much more cooperative Friday and Saturday evenings, when the final two nations taking part in the in the Cascades of Fire international fireworks competition are scheduled to launch their displays. Parks officials on this side of the border, meanwhile, say the view is good from Goat Island in Niagara Falls State Park.

A new branding campaign is in the works for Niagara Falls. The President and CEO of Niagara Tourism and Convention Corporation, John Percy, says removing the Robert Moses Parkway downtown and the upgrades being made to the State Park will put a green focus on the American Falls.

Niagara County Sheriff's deputies have located a teenager who had been reported missing in Washington State.

Niagara Falls State Park is going "from shabby to shining."  That's the message from Rose Harvey, the Commissioner of the New York Office of Parks, Recreation and Historic Preservation.  Harvey joined local officials Friday to re-open several sections of the park that recently underwent renovations.
