Democrat Tracy Mitrano conceded to Republican Rep. Tom Reed in New York’s 23rd Congressional District on Friday. Reed had already declared victory with more than 60% of the vote. The Associated Press had previously called the race for Reed, as well.

Congressional candidate Tracy Mitrano admits there’s no path to victory in her race against Republican incumbent Tom Reed. Still, she won’t make an official statement about the outcome of the race until every vote has been counted.

The election in New York’s 23rd congressional district stretched through a summer of protests, violence at one campaign office and a pandemic. On election night, incumbent Tom Reed declared victory. His opponent hasn’t commented on that declaration, but shortly after the polls closed at 9 p.m., Tracy Mitrano reflected on her chances of victory.
