Governor Andrew Cuomo announced the special election for New York’s vacant 27th congressional seat has been moved from April 28 to June 23. Also being moved is the state’s presidential primary.

Between now and April 28, voters in the sprawling, rural farming eight counties of the 27th Congressional District are likely to see a lot of Republican State Sen. Chris Jacobs and Democrat Nate McMurray. They are squared off in the special election called Monday to fill the seat vacated by Chris Collins.

A prominent New York Republican said her party can hold the congressional seat vacated by Chris Collins, part of his felony guilty plea to insider trading.

Former congressman Chris Collins and two men charged with him in a federal insider trading case have agreed to settlements with the Securities and Exchange Commission.

There are many candidates and no official Election Day set to fill the seat vacated by former Rep. Chris Collins. A political newcomer threw her hat into the ring Monday in the closely-watched content.

A Western New York Medal of Honor winner, who had been viewed by political observers as having an excellent chance of getting the Republican nomination to run next year for the seat given up  by former Rep. Chris Collins, says he will not be seeking that congressional spot.

Lt. Gov. Kathy Hochul is staying in her current job, even though some have called for her to run for the western New York congressional seat that’s vacant after Chris Collins resigned.

Collins pleaded guilty to federal charges related to insider trading.
