Angelo Morinello, who defeated three-term incumbent John Ceretto, took his oath of office Tuesday as the new representative of the New York State Assembly's 145th District. He was joined by another new Niagara County Assemblymember, Mike Norris of Lockport.

Some new faces from Western New York are headed to the New York State Assembly, while and some familiar faces are returning home.

Western New Yorkers are going to the polls for what is expected to be a lightly attended primary election. A hotly contested race for Erie County District Attorney is on the ballot, along with State Senate, Assembly and judicial delegates.

In the flurry of activity before the end of the legislative session, the New York State Assembly has passed two bills aimed at improving patient access to medical marijuana.

The New York State Senate has passed four bills that sponsors say are part of its ongoing commitment to address the  ongoing heroin and opioid crisis.

Think back to the last time you or someone you know bought a full set of hard-copy encyclopedias. It’s probably been years or maybe even a couple of decades. While practices like that are considered outdated, the New York State Assembly hasn’t quite caught up with the times. New recommendations are looking to change that.

Former state senator Antoine Thompson may be running for a seat in the state assembly this year.  Thompson submitted his resignation Friday to Buffalo Mayor Byron Brown.  Since December of 2012 , Thompson has served as director of the Buffalo Education and Technology Center.

Should the legal bills of former Assemblymember Dennis Gabryszak be paid for by taxpayers? Gabryszak resigned his seat Sunday nearly a month after his former staffers accused him of sexual harassment.

There is still no sign of State Assemblyman Dennis Garbryszak, democrat, since seven women have accused him of sexual harassment. Some speculate that he will not appear at the Governor's State of the State address in Albany Wednesday.

Sexual harassment allegations continue to mount against Assemblyman Dennis Gabryszak of Cheektowaga, but Gabryszak continues to maintain his silence and appears to be in hiding. As WBFO's Eileen Buckley reports, one public relations expert it's time for the lawmaker to step forward.
