More than 90 years after its construction, a historic building in the heart of Buffalo’s East Side is getting new life and restored purpose. The 1926 casino building in Martin Luther King Jr. Park is nearly through the third and final phase of a $2.6 million renovation.

The Buffalo Olmsted Parks Conservancy re-installed two long lost cannons at Front Park Thursday. The Parrott Rifles, from the Civil War era, were displayed around the semi-circle of the plaza facing Lake Erie in the 19th century.

Bills staff help clean up South Buffalo park

The Buffalo Bills staff took part in a day of service at Cazenovia Park Friday. This is the second year the Bills crew volunteered their time in the community.

The annual push is on to get Delaware Park's rose garden ready for the season. Additionally, major work will refurbish the pergola overlooking the garden.

People who use the paths around Hoyt Lake should begin noticing some much needed improvements soon.

However, improvements at another signature park remain unfinished.

The City of Buffalo and the Olmsted Parks Conservancy are both kicking-off separate projects in and around Hoyt Lake.

Deputy Parks Commissioner Andy Rabb says two new fresh water wells are being installed to reduce algae and odor problems. The access road is being fixed to make it easier to clean out debris. New landscaping is going in.
