Opiate abuse

In what’s being billed as a first-of-a-kind local conference, experts are meeting with clergy members Wednesday in hopes of better preparing them to deal with the opioid epidemic.

Albany lawmakers worked through the overnight hours into Saturday morning, settling a number of measures at the end of the legislative session. State Senator Patrick Gallivan ( R, C, IP ) of the 59th Senate District said some items were still overlooked.

As the harsh reality of the opioid abuse continues to emerge, more communities are gathering in a search for solutions. Last night's forum at Bennett High School examined how the abuse problem is interconnected with mental health issues.
