Buffalo Bills owner Terry Pegula has full confidence in general manager Doug Whaley's ability to turn around his franchise, and outlined the reasons coach Rex Ryan was fired in an exclusive interview with The Associated Press.

Buffalo Bills general manager Doug Whaley faced a tough line of questioning in his end-of season news conference Monday, after yet another season in which the team failed to make the playoffs.

It appeared most Buffalo Bills fans were in favor of dismissing head coach Rex Ryan. That move, analyst Matt Sabuda points out, did little to satisfy the team's followers who are calling for more change in an organization that has failed to make the playoffs for 17 consecutive seasons.

He rose quickly through the ranks of the Buffalo Bills coaching staff this season and is believed by some to be a rising candidate for coaching possibilities elsewhere in the National Football League. But Anthony Lynn, who was tapped yesterday to replace fired head coach Rex Ryan on an interim basis, says his only focus now is to prepare the Bills for their season finale this weekend.

After 31 disappointing games as the team's head coach, Rex Ryan has been relieved of his duties by the the Buffalo Bills. Immediately following that announcement on Tuesday, the Bills announced that Assistant Head Coach for Defense Rob Ryan, Rex Ryan's twin brother, was also relived of his duties.

The Buffalo Bills kept their slim playoff hopes alive by beating the hapless Cleveland Browns Sunday 33-13 at New Era Field. Running back LeSean McCoy ran for two touchdowns. Coach Rex Ryan spent much of his post-game news conference addressing his uncertain job status. Bills analyst Matt Sabuda talks about the game with WBFO's Mark Scott in Monday's edition of "Beyond the Playbook."

The NFL bye week provides coaching staffs with two weeks to prepare for an upcoming opponent. The Buffalo Bills, who are coming off their bye week, head to Cincinnati on Sunday to meet the Bengals, who last played on Monday night. With that timing in mind, analyst Matt Sabuda believes Sunday's game offers fans and team executives a chance to judge the efficiency and effectiveness of head coach Rex Ryan and his staff.
