Rochester Police have announced some policy changes as the department continues to look at overall reforms and changes, partly in preparation for a state-required plan to reimagine public safety, due for all municipalities, by April 1.

On Monday, RPD released policy updates in two areas -- “duty to intervene” and the use of chokeholds. (The complete documents are below)

On a frigid late January afternoon, Rochester, N.Y., police responded to a reported domestic disturbance on the city's north side.

Rochester Police released body camera footage Friday of a woman who was pepper-sprayed by officers on Portland Avenue last month while she was with her child. 

In a news conference Friday, the Police Accountability Board claimed the woman was also tackled, but that wasn’t clear in the video that police released.

A Rochester woman is speaking out about an  incident that has garnered worldwide attention, when her 9- year-old daughter was handcuffed and pepper-sprayed by city police on Friday.

More than 150 people rallied and marched Monday evening along Clinton Ave. in Rochester, gathering in front of a police substation. They were there to object to the handcuffing and pepper spraying of a 9-year old-girl last week.

With chants of "protect our children," the dozens of demonstrators, who included some area politicians and community activists, got together to let Rochester Police know they are upset about the way that young girl was treated last Friday.
