Cattaraugus County is continuing its aggressive move into solar energy, with a solar farm planned for an unused section of the Nuclear Fuel Services complex in West Valley.

The journalism world these days is filled with allegations of fake news, confusion about what constitutes news, confusion about the First Amendment and those reporters who do responsible jobs. The news was the topic of a panel discussion before a packed house at the Buffalo History Museum Wednesday night.

Given the widespread use of cell phones among young people, researchers at St. Bonaventure will be looking at the impact that the technology is having on students in the classroom.

A Buffalo native has been named as the next president of St. Bonaventure University. Dr. Dennis DePerro was introduced to the campus community Monday morning at a news conference in the University’s Quick Center that was live streamed.   

St. Bonaventure University hosted an STEM camp featuring international high school students. WBFO's senior reporter Eileen Buckley reports the students came from China, Spain & the U.S. to work on a variety of projects to enhance their learning in a cross-culture atmosphere.

Monday night provided double the excitement for local college basketball fans. The women's teams from St. Bonaventure and UB learned where they were heading in the NCAA basketball tournament.

The president of St. Bonaventure University has announced plans to step down and retire. Sr. Margaret Carney said she will be leaving July 31st.

Tuesday is National Philanthropy Day.  But at St. Bonaventure University, students are encouraged to give something back every day.  As WBFO's Mark Scott reports, such giving is part of the Franciscan tradition that dates back to the days of St. Francis of Assisi.
