Buffalo Police are continuing to investigate a pair of fatal attacks over the weekend.

A Friday night stabbing in the vicinity of Woodlawn Avenue and Humboldt Parkway led to the death of 22-year-old Michael Ballard, Jr. A shooting early Saturday morning in the 200 block of Maryland Street has taken the life of a 26-year-old man. Detectives believe that a number of people may have been inside the residence when the shooting occurred.

Police are asking anyone with information about either incident to call the Confidential Tip Line at 847-2255.

The man in custody after stabbing two out-of-town visitors on Thursday has been identified.

Fifty-year-old Grill Williams has been charged with assault and criminal weapons possession. Grill stabbed a California couple while at the Erie Canal Harbor Metro Station.

Eighteen-year-old Lema Lynch is in fair condition at ECMC.

The other victim was treated and released.

The US Army has officially identified the death of Private Thomas Lavrey as a murder.

Lavrey, a soldier hailing from Machias, New York, was found unresponsive in his Fort Riley quarters on Sunday. Investigators found stab wounds on the body.

Authorities are still reviewing the case and autopsy results have not been made public.

A Niagara Falls man is safely in custody after authorities talked him down from the roof of a 7th Street home.

The man is a suspect in stabbing incident, and he barricaded himself on the roof as police closed in on him. SWAT team members were called in to handle the situation. After more than eight hours and a near fall from the peak, the man was safely convinced to surrender.

The identity and condition of the suspect have not been released.

An altercation between a husband and wife at a local supermarket led to a stabbing.

Buffalo Police were called to the Wegmans on Amherst street Saturday afternoon after a thirty-two year old man stabbed his twenty-six year old wife in the store's lobby. The victim was treated at ECMC and later released. The assailant has been arrested on numerous charges including endangering the welfare of a child.

Store spokesperson Theresa Jackson claims that quick action was taken to resolve the incident.
