Tapestry Charter School in north Buffalo is on a mission to expand its student population.  School leaders broke ground Tuesday for a new elementary building and multi-use athletic field.  WBFO's senior reporter Eileen Buckley says it is on the same site that the K-through 12- school.

Tapestry Charter School is turning to the Industrial Land Development Corporation as the school seeks financing for its planned expansion along Great Arrow. The ILC, part of the county Industrial Development Agency, will review a complex application that totals $35 million.

The Tapestry Charter High School is dealing with the tragic death of one of its refugee students. 18-year-old Kanu Kasonko was found dead along the NFTA Metro Rail’s Utica Station Monday evening. WBFO’s Senior Reporter Eileen Buckley reports the school has set up a second day of grief counseling.
