The state Comptroller, Tom DiNapoli, is out with his annual report on Wall Street profits, and he finds, not surprisingly, they are up.


The state budget has been in place for just less than two months and already there are signs that tax revenues may be significantly lower than expected. Anticipated federal tax reductions later this year may be one of the reasons.

Erie County Legislator Ted Morton is proposing a cap on the county sales tax for gasoline. Morton floated the idea Tuesday as County Comptroller Stefan Mychajliw released a report titled "The True Cost of a Gallon of Gasoline."
