With flowers and speeches, the Erie County Legislature Thursday went through one of the annual rituals of elective politics, saying goodby to departing members. WBFO was there as Legislators Betty Jean Grant and Ted Morton attended their final meetings.

It took only one seat for Republicans to lose control of the Erie County Legislature Tuesday night.


The Erie County Legislature meets Thursday afternoon to take an override vote on the proposed Made in America Act and take up a new measure the act's lone opponent says will be more effective and legal.

The Erie County Legislature retained its Republican majority last night, secured when Ted Morton unofficially won his hotly-contested race for re-election in the 8th District.


Republicans could lose control of the Erie County Legislature on Election Day. Buffalo News Political Reporter Bob McCarthy believes two races will determine who will be the majority party.

Erie County Legislator Ted Morton is proposing a cap on the county sales tax for gasoline. Morton floated the idea Tuesday as County Comptroller Stefan Mychajliw released a report titled "The True Cost of a Gallon of Gasoline."
