The NFL's finance committee has unanimously approved the pending sale of the Buffalo Bills to Terry and Kim Pegula.

Calling it "generational electricity," Matt Sabuda says anticipation for Sunday's Buffalo Bills home opener may be at an all-time high. During "Beyond the Playbook" on WBFO's Morning Edition, Sabuda discussed the announcement that the Bills will be sold to Terry and Kim Pegula.

The owners of the Buffalo Sabres have been chosen to be the new owners of the Buffalo Bills. Terry and Kim Pegula have made the winning bid to take ownership of the storied NFL franchise.

The Buffalo Bills and the team's likely incoming owner, Terry Pegula, both issued statements Tuesday afternoon, making their sale agreement official. Donald Trump and Jon Bon Jovi, who both lost out in the bidding process, also issued remarks.

Multiple bids were submitted Monday by prospective owners looking to purchase the Buffalo Bills from the estate of team founder Ralph Wilson.

City chooses Pegula's proposal for Webster Block

A group led by Buffalo Sabres owner Terry Pegula has been chosen to develop downtown Buffalo's Webster Block.  The announcement was made by Mayor Byron Brown late Wednesday morning. 

"Great things are happening in the city of Buffalo and today it is getting even better," said Mayor Brown as he started the news briefing.

Buffalo Sabres owner Terry Pegula was among five businessmen targeted by an aspiring Hollywood actor in an extortion plot. 

In a story first reported by the website The Smoking Gun, 25-year-old actor Vivek Shah was arrested by federal agents earlier this month after he sent threatening letters to Pegula, Hollywood producer Harry Weinstein, and three others in June and July. 

In the letters, Shah threatened to kill family members of the recipients unless they wired large sums of money to an offshore bank account.

A decision is close on who will develop the Webster Block downtown.

"The developers have provided more and more information," Buffalo Mayor Byron Brown said as he offered a status update to WBFO and AM970 News.

Many area residents and hockey fans know the Webster Block but not by that name. It's the two-acre parking lot across the street from First Niagara Center and across Main Street from Canalside.

The greening of the downtown waterfront is about to be enhanced thanks to the Buffalo Sabres.

Mayor Byron Brown met with reporters at Main Street and Marine Drive beneath the Skyway Tuesday to announce that the Sabres organization is picking up the $120,000 tab for enhancements and landscaping at  unfinished parcels at the Central Wharf, near First Niagara Center.

The project will include the installation 90,000 square feet of new sod. The land is already being cleared and cleaned and existing fences and barriers will be removed to allow for greater public access.
