A Rochester-based high-speed internet company could start providing service it says is five times faster and 25% less expensive than Spectrum in parts of Erie and Niagara counties as early as next year.

Buffalo's longtime cable company may soon be getting a rival internet provider. It's called Greenlight Networks, a Rochester-based company that has been boosted by a $100 million investment by former Buffalo Sabres owner Tom Golisano.

A company called Viridi Parente or Green Machine is another part of Jon Williams' Ontario Specialty Contracting. It's clean technology stands in contrast to the internal combustion vehicles built by Chevrolet at Buffalo's East Delavan industrial site a century ago.


The New York State Public Service Commission on Thursday gave the green light to former Buffalo Sabres owner Tom Golisano. The PSC approved the sale of local broadband company Greenlight Networks to Golisano's Grand Oaks GLN, LLC.

Billionaire businessman Tom Golisano, whose history includes founding PayChex Inc. and ownership of the Buffalo Sabres, is making a "major investment" into a young Buffalo-based company.

The Niagara Falls Memorial Medical Center has announced the largest gift in its history. Businessman and philanthropist Tom Golisano, through his foundation, is donating $3.5 million toward construction of a new center for community health.

Tom Golisano will not be the next owner of the Buffalo Bills. According to the Associated Press, the former owner of the Buffalo Sabres will not be making a bid on the NFL franchise.

Preliminary bids in the sale of the Buffalo Bills have been submitted and those bids start at over $1 billion. There were reportedly at least 15 interested in purchasing the team, but only three are known to have placed an official bid before Tuesday’s deadline.

Billionaire businessman Tom Golisano spoke publicly for the first time Thursday on his interest in buying the Buffalo Bills.  He addressed the issue during a speech at an awards ceremony at a Rochester high school.
