A Buffalo teen has been sentenced to 25 years in prison plus five years of post-release supervision for a murder in the city's University District last year.

Doris Cummins Ford is a former military intelligence officer who left Buffalo after high school. She returned in 2007 and bought a house on Highgate Avenue in the University District.

Local leaders announced Friday that 100 homes in Buffalo's University District will be repaired over eight days this summer. Eight Days of Hope is the Mississippi-based non-profit religious organization tasked with the repair work.

Body found in Buffalo's University District

Buffalo police are investigating the death of a young man found Saturday morning.

Police say the body was found at a home around 10:30 on the 100 block of Winspear Avenue. An autopsy will be scheduled to determine the cause of death. There is no sign of foul play. The man is believed to be in his 20s.

He is not a student at UB.
