January marks Human Trafficking Awareness Month. In Buffalo, the United States Attorney's Office is working with members of a task force who are helping people recognize potential warning signs of human trafficking activity while also dispelling some of the myths about its victims.

Representatives of numerous law enforcement agencies gathered in Buffalo Thursday to report that a dozen indictments had been unsealed, and 11 people arrested, in a case involving what they described as a violent criminal enterprise that included drugs, guns and murder.

"You are taking ours, we are taking yours." That was just part of a threatening message left on the voicemails of two U.S. Congress members. Federal authorities have charged a Grand Island man in connection with those messages.

U.S. Attorney James Kennedy announced Monday that a North Tonawanda man is charged with possession and intent to distribute five or more kilograms of cocaine. According to investigators, they recovered a whole lot more of the drug after stopping a vehicle delivered to an auto dealer lot Friday evening.

Buffalo Police and federal authorities are investigating what is believed to be a multi-state firearms trafficking ring. On Wednesday, they announced the arrest of a Buffalo man in possession of more than a dozen guns.
