Say Yes Buffalo announced Thursday its first-ever funding from the Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation. The powerhouse foundation will invest $2.9 million over the next 22 months for the newly established Buffalo College Success Network.

Autism Services art student has first solo exhibit

An exhibit is being held at Villa Maria College for a decade-long Autism Services art student. Eighteen-year-old Matt Mansour developed a strong interest in painting at a young age, showing an early gift for color mixing.

A local, private college is trying to entice more students as it moves into NCAA Division III membership sports. Villa Maria College has hired a new athletic director and head coach of men's baseball.  Don Silveri is the former head coach of men's basketball at Daemen College. WBFO'S Focus on Education reporter Eileen Buckley says Silveri brings 38-years of experience to Villa where his career began.

A brand new after-school program focuses on homework and academic assistance.  In October, Villa Maria College teamed with the Town of Cheektowaga to being an after-school services program for second graders from the Union East Elementary School and Mary Queen of Angels School.  WBFO's Focus on Education reporter Eileen Buckley says the program is designed to support children from low-income families.
