The Wilson community joined together on Saturday to honor the life of Sarah Johnson.

The 14 year old girl was killed when the family home exploded last month. Johnson, who would have entered high school this year, was remembered as a talented athlete and musician, an ambitious student and a special friend. All but one other family member attended the service. Nineteen year old Katie Johnson remains in critical condition at the burn unit of ECMC.

The deadly blast at the Johnson home is still being investigated.

The Johnson family of Wilson is showing increasing signs of healing.

Judith  Johnson was released from ECMC on Saturday. She joins her husband Jody and her son Nathan as those who have been treated in hospital and discharged after their home was destroyed by a gas explosion last week. Eighteen year old Katie remains in critical condition, though she is expected to recover. Sarah, 14, was killed in the blast.

The investigation into the event continues.

Sheriff says propane leak caused Wilson explosion

The Niagara County Sheriff says a propane leak caused the deadly explosion of a house in the Town of Wilson that killed a 14-year-old girl Tuesday morning. 

Officials said they don't know where the spark that ignited the gas came from.  Niagara County Sheriff James Voutour said the house was supplied by a large, exterior propane tank, common in rural areas.
