Nearly 7 inches of snow fell in the Buffalo region Saturday, and the harsh winter weather will continue for the near future.

The Winter Storm Warning for Western New York has been canceled but has been replaced by a Winter Weather Advisory, which will remain in effect until 11 tonight.

There is now a winter storm warning for much of Western New York as strong, gusty winds and accumulating snow move into the region.

A cold snap is moving into the Buffalo Niagara region Tuesday that should last all week. WBFO's Eileen Buckley says the National Weather Service has issued a Wind Child Advisory from 6 p.m. Tuesday until 11 a.m. Wednesday.

The National Weather Service says the moderate snow that had been falling all day Thursday became lighter during the evening hours.  But forecasters say strong winds up to 25 miles per hour were still creating blowing and drifting snow.
